DILG-AKLAN ROLLS OUT TRAINING TO STRENGTHEN BARANGAY ANTI-DRUG ABUSE COUNCILS

The Department of the Interior and Local Government-Aklan successfully conducted the Roll-Out Training on Strengthening the Institutional Capacities of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (SICAP-BADACs) for Calendar Year 2025, held at the Gov. Corazon L. Cabagnot Tourism and Training Center, Old Buswang, Kalibo.

The activity gathered barangay officials and representatives from across the province, aimed at equipping them with enhanced knowledge, skills, and tools in the fight against illegal drugs at the community level.

Representing the DILG-Aklan Provincial Director, Cluster Head LGOO VII Susan M. Balsamo welcomed the participants and emphasized the crucial role of BADACs as the frontline mechanism in safeguarding barangays from the threats of illegal drugs.

The training was also graced by the presence of partner agencies, including the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), who provided technical inputs and shared best practices on effective anti-drug operations, demand reduction strategies, and community-based interventions. The roll-out training is part of DILG’s continuing commitment to strengthen local institutions in support of the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy (PADS) and the national government’s thrust toward drug-free and safe communities. Participants engaged in discussions, workshops, and evaluation sessions to assess and further enhance the capacities of their respective BADACs, ensuring that each barangay remains proactive and responsive in addressing drug-related concerns.

Through this initiative, DILG-Aklan, together with its partners, reaffirms its call for stronger collaboration and sustained community action in the fight against illegal drugs, highlighting that the barangay remains the cornerstone of effective grassroots governance and peacebuilding.
