TA’ SA IRAYA: A WORTHWHILE FIRST-EVER COLLABORATIVE TRAVERSE OF DILG LIBACAO TO DALAGSAAN
“Ta’ sa Iraya!” is a local expression in Dalagsaan, Libacao, Aklan, which translates to an invitation to join and come over together. The activity conducted was a collaborative initiative to strengthen linkage, build stronger partnerships and bolster community engagement and participation. Similarly, “Ta’ sa Iraya!” in the context of the conducted activity pertains to the participants joining hands and together bringing public service to geographically isolated and disadvantage areas (GIDAs).
With the goal of achieving active community involvement and empowerment, Libacao Municipal Local Government Operations Officers Debra Lynn I. Romero conceptualized the series of activities to be conducted from April 17 to 18, 2024 in the farthest barangay in the Municipality of Libacao--Barangay Dalagsaan. In collaboration with the Acting Municipal Chief-of-Police of Libacao Municipal Police Station, PCPT Roel N Bereña; Punong Barangay Esmeraldo C. Onao, Jr.; SK Chairperson Guillermo Z. Colas III of Barangay Dalagsaan; Indigenous Peoples Municipal Representative of Akeanon Bukidnon, Hon. Gladys Dorothy Z. Colas; 1st APMFC Commanding Officer, PLTCOL Rogelio L Tomagtang, Jr.; and Platoon Leader, PCPT Richard R De Vera; the Local Government of Libacao thru LYDO, Ms. Maria Angelica I. Zabala and Mr. Menan V. Zomil; Acting Municipal Agriculturist under the leadership of Hon. Charito I. Navarosa, Municipal Mayor.
Conducted were the following program of activities, days before the upcoming celebration of the Barangay and Religious Fiesta in honor of Patron San Isidro Labrador on April 19, 2024:

Launching of Barangay Kalinisan Day (BARKADA) and Halina't Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay (HAPAG) Program
Relaunching of Balay Barasahan
Masuba, Mag-ulu-istorya, Magkabaeaka: A community Outreach and Advocacy initiative thru Bagong Pilipinas sa Barangay
Launching of Buhay Ingatan, Droga'y Ayawan (BIDA) Program
The activity was scheduled in time with the celebration of the barangay fiesta, in order to maximize the participation of the natives in the barangay, the Akeanon Bukidnon, who are from far-flung and upland areas of Dalagsaan, as they visit the Sitio Proper for the festive celebration.
The local officials of Dalagsaan, in their appreciation of the activities conveyed in their messages kind words towards the agencies and its representatives who took the challenge of travelling to their place. “Taw-an naton it palakpakan atong mga bisita. Dahil sa karayuon ka tong baryo halin sa banwa, gatinguha gidlang man sanda nga irapit kanaton do serbisyo it gobyerno kada magfiesta. Sa kaabu-on it atong hilikuton kayang adlaw, indi naton pagripatan kung hama’t dugi kita gaselebrar it kapyestahan it atong Patron San Isidro Labrador. “ -Hon. Gladys Dorothy Z. Colas, IPMR Libacao 2024. Hon. Esmeraldo C. Onao, Jr. Punong Barangay of Dalagsaan, expressed his delight, particularly of the DILG, “Sa tanan nga nagsuba eabi sa aton ng DILG ag sa tanan nga bisita, sa mga kapulisan ag taga munisipyo, sa ngaran it Barangay Council, gapasalamat guid ako sa gintao ninyo nga mga serbisyo ag dugang nga knowledge ag program nga inyo ginapaabot sa Dalagsaan. “First time nga nakaabot do DILG sa atun, umpisa naging baryo do Dalagsaan. Maskin marayu hay naka abot imaw” Ikaw paeang Ma’am. History. Kabay nga sa sunod hay una gihapon kamo para kanamon”.
In this conducted activity, history has been made. It was journey to a road less travelled by and a traverse rewarded by picturesque and magnificent view of mountains, rocks and greeneries. The therapeutic cold waters of Aklan River naturally cured the tired and aching feet of the travelers. In the goal of bringing the DILG Programs in Barangay Dalagsaan amidst limited resources and materials, the six hour-travel from Libacao town proper, it was an effort well-spent with all the walkathon and river crossing. The series of activities was wrapped up with sweet smiles of success in the faces of both visitors and residents of the barangay.
The activity also brought immense impact on the young people in Dalagsaan, as expressed by Hon. Guillermo Z. Colas III, SK Chairperson of Dalagsaan, “Bilang SK Chairperson ag first timer man, nalipay guid ako dahil haeos tanan nga aktibidades sa baryo hay first time guid nagkaeatabo. Magaoy pero masadya. Nasadyahan guid ako hay ka abu-abong bisita nga nag adto, eabi gid sa DILG nga first time in history it Dalagsaan nga nagsuba ro DILG idto. Maskin sa kaeayo ko baryo namon, gatinguha gilang ro ibat-ibang ahensya it gobyerno nga makaadto para eang makaserbisyo sa among pinalanggang baryo.”
Extraordinary memories have been made as representatives from national government agencies and local government unit set footprints in the beautiful place of Barangay Dalagsaan. They exchanged smiles with the people of the Akeanon Bukidnon community, a picture of public and civil servants putting their hearts on selfless service for the people. In Dalagsaan, people live simple lives, and there they find simple joy in everything. It is truly a place where happiness knows no bounds.
