USAPANG BIDA SA AKLAN

The Department of the Interior and Local Government-Province of Aklan, through its Aklan Provincial Local Governance Resource Center (APLGRC), in partnership with the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) and the Provincial Government of Aklan, successfully conducted an activity for the Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Program dubbed as Usapang BIDA: Empowering Grassroots Level to Combat Drug Abuse in Pursuit of a Peaceful, Orderly, Safe and Secure Communities in Kalibo, Aklan on July 30, 2024.

Usapang BIDA is a grassroots-level meeting, with the goal of sustaining the partnership of the department among stakeholders, of boosting the campaign against the widespread proliferation of illicit drugs in the nation, of heightening the awareness of the community, and of encouraging participation among Local Government Units, concerned National Government Agencies, other partner-stakeholders in the six (6) areas for discussion namely: Law Enforcement; Prosecution and Courts; Rehabilitation; Youth Development; Civil Society Organizations; and Penology. Present during this activity were the 17 Chiefs of Police (COPs) in Aklan, PDEA-Aklan, BJMP Regional and Provincial Office personnel, Provincial Prosecutor’s Office-Aklan, IBP-Aklan, PPDO, MPDCs, PSWDO, PHO, LnBs, PYDO, LYDOs, SK Federation Presidents, PTAs (ASU, APC, NVC, GCT, KPES, PTA President-Kalibo), Interfaith Groups (DSAC-Kalibo, Glad Tidings, Inc., and Aklan Islamic Jamaa’ Inc.), PCCI-Aklan, Aklan Rehabilitation Center, CSOs (Kiwanis Club Kalibo, JCI Kalantiao, and Aklan Baghay, Inc.), PCCI-Aklan, and Youth Organizations (PYAP, AKON-DA, KAYACO, KKDAT, JJC).

In his message, Dino A. Ponsaran, CESE, Provincial Director, DILG Aklan, extended his heartfelt gratitude for the commitment and support of the participants. On the part of the Provincial Government of Aklan, Provincial Administrator Atty. Selwyn C. Ibaretta commended DILG-Aklan’s commitment to its Vision and Mission in attaining peaceful, safe, progressive and resilient communities.

The participants of the activity were provided baseline information to identify sustainable interventions that will address the specific needs and challenges of the sectors concerned by the invited resource persons IA V Nicolas C Gomez of PDEA-Aklan and PMAJ Valen Rommel B. Delos Santos, who discussed on the Provincial Drug Situation and Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay, respectively.

The activity also included developmental/break-out sessions the facilitated and documented by the DILG VI Regional Office and Provincial Office personnel, who guided the participants in coming up with their outputs on their sectors. Back to main post
