BIDAKTAS (A WALK AWAY FROM DRUG ABUSE)

DILG Aklan successfully conducted an advocacy campaign for the Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Program dubbed as BIDAktas (A Walk Away From Drug Abuse).

DILG Region 6 Regional Director Juan Jovian E. Ingeniero, CESO IV was among the approximately 2,500 participants who answered the call to amplify public awareness and information dissemination of the negative effects of illegal drugs.

NVC President Mr. Allan Angelo Quimpo, CPA, MBA served as the resource person, wherein he encouraged the participants, especially the students, to be the voice for everyone to know what are the effects of illegal drugs. Further, RD Ingeniero, in his message, reiterated that the presence and participation of the people in today’s activity is a manifestation that they are all united in this fight against illegal drugs.

With the support of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), an agency primarily responsible for drug prevention and control, the Province of Aklan successfully conducted drug prevention education and advocacy through a walk for a cause of students and advocacy groups from Aklan Provincial Capitol to Aklan Catholic College (ACC) Covered Court and open ground. Moreover, a short program called, “Pagtieieipon” was conducted to advocate and express support for the sustainability of the BIDA Program.

The participants are DILG Region 6 and DILG Aklan personnel together with the Aklan Police Provincial Office, the Provincial Government of Aklan, different National Government Agencies (PNP, BFP, BJMP, and PDEA), Civil Society Organizations (Aklan Baghay, AKON-DA, KKDAT), LGUs, and students from the partner Local Resource Institutes (Northwestern Visayan Colleges, Garcia College of Technology, Aklan State University, STI College-Kalibo, and Aklan Catholic College).
